Freedom of information rights under the Freedom of Information Act 2014

The Freedom of Information Act 2014 provides for the following statutory rights:

• A legal right for everyone to access information held by public bodies to which freedom of information legislation applies.

• Everyone has the legal right to have official information about him / herself corrected where it is incomplete, incorrect or misleading.

• A legal right to be given reasons for decisions that have affected a person.

Information available under the Publication Scheme

Section 8 of the FOI Act 2014 requires FOI bodies to prepare and publish a scheme for the publication of body information to comply with a publication scheme or guidelines made by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.
